Having been together for some time, working as a live production team, collaborating with a who’s who of UK and Canadian artists, the trio of Scott, Trumpet Andy and Stef became disillusioned with the music industry. However, a chance late night, Jäger-fueled meeting with Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno, at the infamous Shepherd’s Bush haunt, Bagel Bites, changed everything.
______
With Jäger coursing through his veins, Stef animatedly explained to Serge the music he wanted to create. Serge simply offered two pieces of advice, which remains a secret to this day; advice that set HALO DUST on the path to becoming the band they are today.
______
With the aim of exploring ideas around AI and inter-conscious communication, the band set about incorporating organic, live instrumentation with otherworldly synth soundscapes and thudding drum machine beats. Calling upon childhood friend Paul Da Silva (Army of One, The Paperboats), who’s impactful, soulful vocals provide another dynamic layer to the sonics, HALO DUST were officially born.
______
The band’s ability to effortlessly straddle genre is no more apparent than on debut single, HEROES. Taken from debut album SINISTER ELECTRIC, out in 2023, the track showcases HALO DUST’s ability to infuse the futuristic spirit of Daft Punk with the expansive, psychedelic rock sounds of the likes of Zeppelin. Thanks to a late night chance meeting, HALO DUST have created a sound they can truly call their own, and the world is all the better for it.
______
HEROES is out on 30th September 2022,
